Leisurely Lunching

Miami’s humid weather has a way of making the city move a little slower than the average metropolitan area. As a result, taking lunch for longer than your standard 30 minutes grab-and-go sandwich tends to happen. With the city’s various neighborhoods come various lunchtime gems that give you a mini-vacation from the office.

  • Berries – This Coconut Grove spot’s ambience is hard to beat with its shaded courtyard. Right off 27th Avenue, it’s close enough to US1 that you can run in, eat, and get back to work with ease. My particular favorite is the salmon lovers wrap.

  • WHISK Gourmet – Located in South Miami, Whisk grew from a catering company to a bustling restaurant with a southern dollop to its menu. Their pork burritos are always a hit, plus the full order means you’ll have enough leftovers to take home for later.

  • Jimmy’z Kitchen – While I haven’t ventured to its South Beach or Wynwood locations, the Pinecrest kitchen serves up a delicious Jamaican jerked chicken breast salad. The place’s motto is “Healthy, hearty food that’ll make you smile!” and I can testify that all those qualities are true.
  • Bulla Gastrobar – The Coral Gables hotspot’s tapas means you eat high quality without a high quantity needed to fill you up. I like coming here for lunch meetings because trying different plates means there’s no shortage of conversation and there is an upbeat ambience that makes it easy to get back to work without a siesta.
