Intro To The Top-producing Sports And Entertainment Broker In The US

In 2014, I joined ONE Sotheby’s International Realty as the head of their Sports & Entertainment Division, but the work to become a premier Sports/Celebrity broker started many years ago. I have been active in this niche category since 2004 and in that time, I rose to top of the proverbial class by developing a strong set of relationships with local sports teams and major figures in the industry.

Today I operate nationally, tapping into my proprietary network of other top brokers who are located throughout the country to service high profile clients. This network is something I’m very proud of because I built it from scratch and have assembled a great team over. Working with rental clients, buyers and sellers, I am actively involved in every deal I refer out to my network, whether it’s a marketing conference call or a final negotiation. For buyers, it affords another set of “ears and eyes” on a transaction, and I can make sure they are receiving the best possible service. Working with sellers, it provides them with two top brokers combining resources to offer a unique marketing plan to market their property to the widest audience. It also provides me with unparalleled audiences of highly qualified buyers for my own exclusive luxury listings -- a resource which was further strengthened once I joined forces with the Sotheby’s Realty brand.

My dominance in this field is supported by the facts. From the start of my career, I’ve worked with over 400 high profile clients. In 2015, I represented athletes/entertainers in 55 transactions nationwide. Those deals ranged from a 6-week spring training rental to a $7.5 million dollar sale. Within the last two weeks, I closed deals with two top 15 NFL draft picks from the 2016 NFL Draft. Each of the deals is uniquely complicated and requires the experienced hand of a broker who has drawn up many contracts with special provisions to protect these clients, from confidentiality to early lease termination clauses.

These stats are the result of the seriousness with which I approach my role as a real estate consultant and mentor, particularly for athletes. I prefer work with sports stars from the beginning of their careers when I visit rookie classes to present best practices and market intros for would-be South Floridians. Education comes first. They have urgent needs and concerns that reach beyond the average buyer and it’s my job to channel that in the most responsible way. I explain when renting is smarter than buying or which specific community offers the most security/privacy, and find that they’re truly grateful for this mentoring.

These guys have unique needs and varying levels of experience as investors in the complex real estate scene, and I’ll guide or connect them with whatever they may need them regardless of the revenue it drives. Many times I have advised a “rich athlete” to not buy a property, foregoing a big commission in the process. However, I am in it for the long run and to build long-term relationships, which is why almost all of my business now is referral-driven. I understand that there’s no more complex logistical field than being a pro athlete when you’re getting traded and cut, moving multiple times in a career, have to deal with family pressures, privacy/security concerns, maintaining a certain image, and supporting a family concurrently. I’m there as an essential contact who can help them make the right financial decision in a timely way while protecting long term wealth. It’s this experienced-based competency and commitment to the client that has contributed to my reputation as a hardworking partner they can trust.

It’s an exciting time to be building the new Sports & Entertainment vertical within ONE Sotheby’s. We’re leading the category with unprecedented efforts that continue my momentum as the category leader. ONE SIR President Daniel de la Vega and the Ben Moss Group have just signed a sponsorship of a major local training facility, Bommarito Performance System. Our branding will be omnipresent and through Pete Bommarito, we will have opportunities to collaborate with his clients, many of whom are also my clients.

So with new efforts on the horizon and an existing baseline of year-long activity, my 24/7 job ironically keeps me from watching my favorite sports teams play as much as I’d like. These days, I’m dedicated to striving for MVP status in my own career arena, bringing my professionalism to athletes, entertainers, and luxury buyers alike as an experienced broker with a growing track record of success. I look forward to sharing more insights with you about this niche world. Reach out to learn more about my dynamic skill set and strong network of buyers.
